My CDT Shoes for Lymphedema

This is a short but sweet blog post that is waaaaay overdue. I have answered this question probably 10,000 times since creating Lymphie Strong.

Just kidding, but it feels like I have been asked a lot.

When you go for your first wrapping appointment during complete decongestive therapy for lymphedema treatment, more than likely they will not provide you with shoes that fit over your bandages for lower extremity lymphedema. Trust me, you do not want to have to resort to paper slippers or risk going barefoot down a hallway or parking lot to your car without protection. You can easily pick up an infection!

These are the shoes I wear while bandaged with CDT. I have no affiliation whatsoever with the manufacturer, but they have been my preferred shoe during therapy since 2014.

As you can see, I do all types of activities in them including gym training and walking. They are a little bulky to drive in, so be careful if you have to drive yourself.

Let’s face it, driving while wrapped on both legs is a bit of challenge, and I’m sure the same goes for managing a steering wheel while wrapped for the arms.

I buy mine about a size bigger, and the first pair lasted 3 years. (Yes, I know not all of you like them, but most people need a starting place to figure out their options!). I like to pair mine with Xpandasox to help the bandages stay up.

  1. I missed something. Who is manufacturer? I understand you don’t endorse, but found they worked for you. I really need to get a pair . Thanks for your time.

      1. Thank you. Took this girl awhile to find. Duh…feel dumb, yet very thankful to you. Have ordered today. Again thanks, as always, you inform and help in a kind way. May you have the wind at your back this week.

    1. I don’t typically name brands I don’t have a partnership with, because I find that some people want to debate it and it’s a waste of time. No single shoe will please everyone.

The link should give you an idea of where to start. Use “post surgical shoe” as keywords.
